Man shot in Indiana attempted home invasion

A man was shot through an apartment door during an attempted home invasion early this morning, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 1:13 a.m. to the scene in the 8000 block of state Road 38 in Greensfork, Indiana.

The people who live there went to answer a knock at the door and two masked persons tried to enter, according to the sheriff’s office.

One of the assailants fired a shot through the door that struck a 30-year-old man, according to the release.

The victim was taken to Reid Hospital and from there transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he underwent surgery, according to the release.

The masked persons ran away and got into a dark-colored four-door vehicle with a third person driving. They sped away going west, according to the release.

The incident remains under investigation.
