UPDATE @ 1:58 pm. May 27, 2016:

A North Dakota court has sentenced a local Dayton man to three years in prison following an online sex sting.

Goble was 19 when authorities say he pressured the Minot, North Dakota girl for the photos.

He’ll get credit for more than a year he has already served in prison. He also must complete sex offender treatment and pay $1,175 in court costs and $3,636 in restitution.

FIRST REPORT April 23, 2015:

A local college student is facing sex charges involving a person he’s never met in a state he’s never visited.

Jesse Goble, 20, was arrested today by Butler Twp. police on a warrant out of North Dakota.

Although Goble said he’s never been to “The Flickertail State” before, he faces child pornography charges stemming from alleged illegal Internet activity.

It all began with a dispatch to Butler Twp. police.

“They advised us they’ve been contacted by the Ward County Sheriff’s department of North Dakota,” said Butler Twp. Police Chief John Cresie.

The Minot Police Department, 1,200 miles away, notified Butler Twp. police that detectives there had been looking for Goble, and that they traced him to a North Dixie Drive residence in the township.

“We were able to locate him and make the arrest,” Cresie said.

Goble was arrested and booked the night of April 14 into the Montgomery County Jail, online jail records show.

When he was arrested, Goble told police he had never been to North Dakota.

Authorities there accused Goble of child sex-related crimes. including charges of use of a minor in a sexual performance and promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor.

The charges stem from alleged online crimes.

Capt. John Klug of the Minot Police Department said Goble began an online relationship with a juvenile girl through a dating website. When the relationship went sour, Goble allegedly hacked into her Facebook account and sent nude photos she had sent to him to friends of hers, Klug said.

“If he would have deleted the photos nobody would have known anything, but that’s not the option he took,” Klug said. “In this case, sharing those photos as soon as something goes bad, you just don’t know what the other person is going to do with them.”

Goble is a student at Sinclair Community College. A campus spokesman said Goble has never had any run-ins with campus police.

Goble remains in the Montgomery County Jail without bond awaiting a hearing to determine whether he will be extradited to North Dakota.
