Ex-Huber teacher arrested for 4th time


UPDATE @ 3:21 p.m. (Nov. 17):

Police said Jutras was arrested on a warrant for felonious assault that stemmed from a recent incident in the Miller Lane Walmart parking lot.

Jutras allegedly tried to injure a woman he knew by using his vehicle to strike her.

Officers due have surveillance video of the alleged incident, but are not able to release it yet.

Police were able to take Jutras into custody as he was leaving a hotel room at the Extended Stay America.

A preliminary hearing for Jutras is set for Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. in Vandalia Municipal Court, according to court records.

UPDATE @ 9:03 p.m. (Nov. 16): A check of online jail records reveals an added charge of felonious assault filed against Steven Jutras, with bail set at $100,000. That charge is in addition to the earlier listed charges of resisting arrest and unauthorized use of property — not involving a motor vehicle.

The court date on the assault is listed as Nov. 23, according to online jail records. Jutras remains in jail tonight.

UPDATE @ 5:35 p.m. (Nov. 16): Steven Jutras, the ex-Huber Heights City Schools teacher arrested three times this year on drug charges, has been arrested for a fourth time.

This time, Butler Twp. police arrested the 46-year-old about noon Saturday in the 6600 block of Miller Lane on charges of resisting arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Both are misdemeanors.

He appeared in court this morning on those charges and as of tonight, he’s being detained in the Montgomery County Jail.

On the issue of the earlier criminal cases, Jutras is due in court Nov. 30 on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges including drug possession, drug trafficking, according to online jail records.

On Aug. 24, Jutras was stopped in the 1700 block of Woodman Drive on a charge of speeding. Police found him to be in possession of drugs. That was his third arrest.

On April 6, Kettering police pulled him over in the area of East Dorothy Lane and Woodman Drive on charges of drug possession.

In March, he was one of four people arrested Jutras was one of four people arrested in a drug raid at his home in the 4200 block of Vitek Drive. Police said they seized methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, mushrooms and other drugs.

Prior to that raid, Jutras, then a junior high teacher in the Huber Heights City Schools system, was placed on leave. According to his personnel file, Jutras had 21 incidents recorded between Jan. 20 and March 11, 2015, for problems that included arriving late for work, leaving early and sleeping in class.

The school district accepted his resignation June 11.

Jutras has been formally charged by a Montgomery County grand jury on the previous alleged offenses.

EARLIER REPORT (Aug. 28): Former Huber Heights teacher Steven Jutras was indicted on drug charges today stemming from a traffic stop.

Jutras was indicted on one count each of possession of drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of cocaine and possession of drugs.

The charges come after Jutras was arrested Saturday in the 1700 block of Woodman Drive.

Jutras was indicted earlier this week on previous drug charges.

He is scheduled to be arraigned next month.
