Dayton man accused of impersonating an officer

Police said a man arrested for alleged robbery early Saturday morning falsely claims to be a police officer.

Drake Edwards, 49, was arrested at Love’s Truck Stop on Nicholas Road and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of robbery and impersonating a police officer, according to the Dayton police report.

An officer noticed an argument in Love’s parking lot and intervened. Two males claimed Edwards stole one of their driver’s licenses and said he claimed to be a U.S. marshal, according to the report.

Edwards denied taking the license or claiming to be an officer, but the real Dayton officer recalled hearing Edwards brag in a courtroom before a judge was present that he is a federal agent, former Dayton police officer and Navy SEAL, according to the report.
