1 dead in three-vehicle crash

A Preble County man is dead following a three-vehicle crash Tuesday night at a Wayne Twp. intersection that is hampered with serious accidents.

The preliminary investigation from the crash that occurred at about 7:30 p.m. at Ohio 73 and Jacksonburg Road, indicates Leah Eve, 26, of Hamilton, was traveling south on Jacksonburg in a van when she failed to yield at the stop sign and struck James Wilson, 42, of Camden, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Wilson’s vehicle, a SUV, was then pushed over the center line and was struck by a semi tractor trailer driven by Cary Thayn, 48, of Tennessee. The semi struck Wilson’s vehilce in the side, according to the sheriff’s office.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The case is still under investigation by S.T.A.R.T. and the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

The intersection has been a site of two previous fatal crashes this year, one occurring in February, with the other occurring just a week ago on April 7.
