Connersville inmate’s death under investigation

The death of a jail inmate from Connersville, Indiana, is under investigation.

Mark Conner, 49, was found unresponsive in his cell around 2 a.m. Saturday in the Fayette County Jail, according to Indiana State Police.

Jail staff and medics were unsuccessful to rescuscitate Conner. Preliminary investigation suggests he took his own life. An autopsy was performed Saturday, and the investigation is ongoing, according to state police.

Conner was awaiting trial and had been incarcerated since April 24 on suspicion of strangulation and domestic battery, both felonies, and a probation violation, state police reported.
