Child rapist indicted for threats against judges, attorneys

An Ohio prison inmate was indicted Tuesday for sending a handwritten letter to a Montgomery County assistant prosecutor, stating local judges and prosecutors “will be targeted.”

Anthony Demar Smith, 27, is currently serving a life sentence in the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility for convictions of rape of a child under 13 and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Smith is Tier 3 sex offender.

Smith was indicted on 10 counts of intimidation and 8 counts of intimidation of an attorney.

Smith went to prison in 2008 and isn’t eligible for parole until 2020.

Prosecutor Mathias Heck said, “The fact that this defendant is angry with the sentence he

received for raping two children does not excuse him for threatening those in the criminal

justice system. The Ohio Parole Board will be advised of his threats when he becomes eligible

for consideration for parole in April, 2020.”

Smith could receive additional prison time if convicted on the new charges, which carry a penalty of up to 36 months in prison on each count.
