Robed carjacking suspect arrested in Kettering

UPDATE @ 3:49 p.m.

The suspect has been identified as Wilbur T. Dabney, 52, of Kettering, according to Kettering police.

Police said witnesses reported seeing the suspect run away from the vehicle, reporting that he was wearing a white robe and red shirt.

Update@2:45 p.m.:

Witnesses said two women entered the Greater Dayton Cancer Center and said a man was trying to carjack them, and there was a child in the car.

An unidentified man who was in the lobby went out and chased the suspect into a nearby office building. The two scuffled, and the suspect assaulted the man, punching him in the ear and jaw.

Police showed up a short time later and took the suspect into custody, although he has not been identified. The suspect was transported to the Kettering jail.

A suspected carjacking in Kettering today after 1 p.m. resulted in one arrest and one victim needing medical attention.

The incident was reported at 3120 Governor’s Place. The victim was described as an elderly female with her granddaughter.

The man fled the scene and entered the Davita Dialysis on Kettering Blvd. It’s unknown at this time whether the man was able to get the car or was on foot.

Police responded and arrested the man without incident.
