Trotwood police: Shooting involved drug activity

UPDATE @ 4:55 p.m.: The shooting of two men occurred in the parking lot of the Halftime Sports Bar and Grille in the 5200 block of Salem Avenue as the result of "some type of illegal drug activity," Trotwood police investigators said.

According to a statement issued by the police department, the victims were Cameron Harris, 19, and Jonathan Clemons, 24. Harris, hit in the lower jaw is in stable condition at Miami Valley Hospital. Clemons, hit in the back left shoulder area and left back thigh area, was treated at the hospital and released.

According to the police department, Harris and Clemons advised investigators that they ran to a house near the parking lot after they were shot and asked for assistance from residents there. Residents at the address were familiar with one of the victims and called 911 for them.

Police located multiple gun shell casings in the parking lot of the business. A Black 2014 Dodge Dart was located on state Route 49, crashed and disabled with multiple windows broken out and damaged from what appeared to be gunfire.

The vehicle was less than 100 yards south of Shiloh Springs Road, just down the street from the grille. The vehicle is a rental, according to police.

Both victims have a history of arrests for drug activity, according to police.

The investigation is continuing and the police department is asking anyone with information to call the department at 937-854-3988 or Crime Stoppers at 937-227-7867.

FIRST REPORT

Two men were shot overnight in Trotwood, and now police are investigating three different scenes to determine what happened.

Initial reports indicate one man was shot in the face and the other in the back.

Police say they believe the shooting happened outside the Halftime Bar and Grille on Salem Avenue.

The victims reportedly went to a house nearby and police also found a vehicle crashed with its back windows shot out about a half mile from the bar.

There is no word yet on the victims’ conditions.
