Brookville selects new city manager

Officials with the city of Brookville have selected a new city manager.

Tonight’s city council agenda states that the city has chosen Gary L. Burkholder, who is currently the Hartford (Ohio) village administrator, for the position.

Rod Stephan, the city’s law director and spokesman for the city manager’s search, was not immediately available for comment Tuesday morning.

Burkholder was one of two finalists interviewed for the position.

The council agenda states that the council will have a first reading of a resolution that names Burkholder as city manager and establishes compensation.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the city council chambers, 301 Sycamore St.

The city received over 33 applications for the position.

John Wright, the city’s former city manager, retired in May after serving the city in various jobs for 46 years.

Wright, 63, became the city manager in 1981 when his father Robert Wright retired from the position. John Wright was the assistant city manager at the time.
