New restaurant & jazz club in Miamisburg already expanding

Less than three weeks after opening its doors to the public, the Blue Note Bistro & Lounge is expanding its offerings.

The new bistro and lounge — equal parts jazz & blues club, fine-dining restaurant, and speakeasy-style bar, tucked into a former bank building in downtown Miamisburg — announced on its Facebook page late last night that starting next week, it will have live music "every day of the week" and will open for Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The restaurant and live-music venue at 23 E. Central Ave. in Miamisburg opened in mid-August. It is the brainchild of Julie Delph, who has owned the Miami Valley Sports Bar since 1995, and her fiance David Ziemba, who shared the vision of opening a jazz and blues club in the area.

The structure — still sporting some of its ornate original brass and wooodworking touches, along with three bank vaults — opened as Mutual Savings & Loan in 1928, and operated under various bank names through the mid-1990s. It later was an art gallery.

The 3,600-square-foot lounge seats about 100, and a patio seats an additional 40. The restaurant and stage are on the first floor, and a speakeasy-style bar called “The Afternote” is on the second floor, outfitted with Victorian-era furniture. A “chairman’s room” seats eight for a private dinner.

In its first few weeks, it has offered live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights, and live blues on Monday nights.
