Woman police say was crossing street illegally hit by van in downtown Dayton

UPDATE @8:21 a.m.

Police said a woman was attempting to cross Washington Street illegally when she was struck by a vehicle.

The woman, who is about 60-years-old, was alert and talking when she was transported to the hospital, police said. An RTA driver witnessed the collision.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, and police are unsure what citations may be issued.

Officials are working to determine if fog and low visibilities played a factor.

UPDATE @ 7 a.m. 

Traffic reconstruction units have arrived at the scene to investigate a pedestrian crash.

The condition of the victim is unknown, but was transported to a local hospital.

Washington Street remains blocked between Ludlow and South Main streets.

FIRST REPORT

A pedestrian has reportedly been hit by a vehicle at the intersection of South Main and Washington streets in Dayton Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported at the intersection around 6:20 a.m.

Initial reports indicate the victim was unresponsive following the crash.

Our crew on the scene reports police have blocked Washington Street between Ludlow and South Main for the investigation.
