UPDATE @ 3:23 p.m.:
Power has been restored to nearly all of the customers in the Kettering area, who were without power following a lightning strike this morning.
DP&L officials said the lightning bolt hit a piece of equipment at the company’s substation on Dorothy Lane.
Power was knocked out to customers in the area of Smithville and Patterson roads.
INITIAL REPORT:
More than 3,000 DP&L customers are without power following a lightning strike in the area of a substation near South Smithville Road and Patterson Road, according to Dayton Power and Light.
According to the DP&L outage map, 3,119 DP&L customers in Montgomery County were without power as of 9:20 a.m.
DP&L said they have crews on the way to investigate and work to restore power.
