Church heavily damaged by fire in Lebanon

UPDATE @5:20 a.m.

Crews continue to fight a blaze at the Bethel AME Church in Lebanon.

A member of the church said the fire started in the kitchen. She said the church hosted a free meal to the community Tuesday night.

Units are responding to a fully involved structure fire at Bethel AME Church in Lebanon.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning in the 100 block of N. Cherry Street around 3:45 a.m, per initial reports. 

Flames and smoke are reportedly showing.

We have a crew on the way to the scene and will update this story with additional details. 

Xenia Twp. fire crews battle residential fire in Greene County

UPDATE @ 2:40 a.m: Xenia Twp. fire department responded to a residential structure fire in Greene County early Wednesday morning.

Units were dispatched to the 1200 block of Wilberforce-Clifton Road just after midnight on a structure fire, where they were met with heavy smoke near the back of the house.

There was one occupant inside of the residence at the time of the fire, but they were able to escape without injuries.

Officials say their only issue with battling this fire was getting to it, with it being winter and the roads being slick. 

No word on damage estimates, but officials say the home will need internal rehab.

Crews continue to investigate what started the fire.

TODAY: We’ll experience a cold morning, according to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini. Temperatures  will be in the teens with wind chills in the single digits. Slick spots can’t be ruled out, mainly on roads not treated where we saw light dusting of snow. Another quick moving system will bring the chance for snow back today, mainly around or after lunch, and again for the evening. This period should stay all snow, but some rain may mix south in the afternoon. Accumulation will be bout less then 1” in Dayton and points south with an inch or so possible north. Highs will reach in the mid 30s as more snow showers come in for the evening before ending overnight. It’ll be breezy at times with gusts around 25-30mph during the day.

THURSDAY: Dry start but some snowy or slick roads possible if left untreated. The day looks mainly dry with broken clouds and cold temperatures. Highs only reach the middle 20s.

FRIDAY: Dry start to the day again, as well as chilly in the teens. Highs hit about 30. Clouds thicken up and some passing light snow showers will be possible at night in the north.

SATURDAY: Dry and warmer day as sunshine returns with highs around 40.

SUNDAY: Quiet end to the weekend for the most part. Highs in the low 40s and dry during the day. Rain showers move up from the south at night.

TONIGHT: Skies gradually clear. Temperatures drop into the lower middle teens. Wind chills will be in the single digits, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said.

WEDNESDAY:  Clouds will increase in the morning with snow showers developing by midday. Snow showers are expected again late in the afternoon and evening. Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected near and north of Interstate 70 with about an inch south through tonight. It will be breezy. Temperatures will climb into the lower to middle 30s.

THURSDAY:  Clouds will linger across the Miami Valley with temperatures holding in the middle 20s. It will be blustery with wind chills in the teens.

FRIDAY: Expect a sun-cloud mix with a chance of passing snow showers, mainly north. Highs will be near 30 degrees.
