Teen charged in Ronnie Bowers shooting appears in adult court for first time

Attorneys for a 17-year-old facing adult murder charges in the shooting death of a Fairmont High School student are disputing whether their client was the shooter.

The shot that killed Ronnie Bowers may not have been fired by Kylen Gregory, attorney John Rion said today after his client pleaded not guilty to murder and related charges in Sept. 4 Kettering shooting.

UPDATE @ 8:59 a.m. :

Kylen Gregory appeared in adult court for the first time today for his arraignment on murder charges in the Ronnie Bowers shooting case.

Gregory’s bond was continued at $1 million and he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His next court date is Aug. 17.

INITIAL REPORT:

A Kettering teen indicted on murder charges in the shooting death of Ronnie Bowers will be arraigned today.

Kylen Gregory, 17, was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday on two counts of murder, five counts of felonious assault and a single count of discharging a firearm at or near a prohibited premise.

Gregory remains at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. His bond is set at $1 million.

Jon Paul Rion, who is representing Gregory, said his client will plead not guilty and seek a jury trial.

Ronnie Bowers, 16, was shot on Sept. 4 and died from his injuries two days later.
