All lanes open after semi hauling metal hydroplanes, jackknifes on I-75

All lanes of I-75 north have reopened.

Ohio Department of Transportation crews are wrapping up their clean-up effort on I-75 north after a semi-tractor trailer hauling metal jackknifed on the highway near Ohio 4.

Officials said they anticipate all the lanes of the highway reopening in the next 10-15 minutes.

Cleanup efforts are underway on northbound I-75 after a semi-tractor trailer jackknifed Thursday morning.

Crews are working to remove debris and metal from the highway.

FIRST REPORT

A semi-tractor trailer driver said he hydroplaned, causing the semi to jackknife on northbound I-75.

The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. north of Route 4 just before Stanley Avenue. The semi was hauling metal — either aluminum or steel — which is now on the roadway.

Crews said it will take some time to clear the semi and the debris. As of 6 a.m., only the far left lane is open. The two right lanes are closed, and the ramp from southbound Route 4 to northbound I-75 is closed. Traffic is backed up in the area.

Those who need to get on northbound I-75 should take back roads and get on the interstate at Stanley Avenue, Wagner Ford Road or Needmore Road.

The driver was not injured.
