Deputies: Bystander shot, ‘heavy exchange’ of gunfire outside Clark County bar

CLARK COUNTY — UPDATE @ 10:50 a.m. 

One person was driven to Springfield Regional Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound after a ‘heavy exchange of gunfire’ outside Wayside Tavern Friday morning, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe multiple shooters exchanged several shots outside the bar at 2288 South Yellow Springs Street around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

The victim arrived at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, but investigators did not release their condition. Deputies also believe the victim was a bystander and not a shooter.

UPDATE @ 3:15 a.m: Two houses were hit with bullets after a shooting at Wayside Tavern in Clark County Friday morning.

Shell casings were locating in the bar’s parking lot and near the bar, located in the 2200 block of S. Yellow Springs Street, according to our crew on scene.

Initial reports indicated medics and officers responded to the bar for a shooting victim, but deputies on scene were not able to confirm anyone had been shot.
