Man in serious condition after hitting utility pole in Shelby County

A man is in serious condition after crashing into a utility pole near Sidney around 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

39-year-old Shane L. Pennington, of Sidney, was driving his 2006 GMC Denali southbound on Jackson Road when his vehicle went off to the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, went off to the left side of the roadway, and struck a utility pole, according to a press release.

He was not wearing a seat belt, according to reports.

Pennington was transported to Miami Valley Hospital via Careflight. The accident remains under investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
