Help a veteran stay warm this winter

KETTERING — Have sweaters and gloves you want to donate?

Consider giving them to veterans in the area who are in need of warm clothing, particularly with our first hard freeze expected this weekend.

Sweaters for Veterans is a national effort to collect warm clothing for veterans nationwide.

Locally, Routsong Funeral Home is taking in donations for the group this week leading up to Veteran’s Day, November 11.

The collected items will be delivered to local VA hospitals, VA homes and Veterans Service Organizations.

“I’m retired United States Navy, 20 years,” said David Wolf, General Manager of Routsong. “I was actually one of the yellow shirts up on the flight deck. I absolutely loved it. I came back in the area and I’m trying to do anything I can for the veterans in this area.”

Donations can be made at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., in Kettering from 9a.m.-5p.m. Monday through Friday and 9a.m.-2p.m. on Saturday.
