Dayton Christian Schools mourn sophomore killed in Ohio 48 crash

MIAMISBURG — The Dayton Christian Schools community came together tonight to pray together following the death of a sophomore in a four-vehicle wreck today on his way to school.

Tommy Williamitis, 16, of Oregonia was on the wrestling team and he played in the band.

“I think it’s a lot of shock today and it’s a lot of, just, we’re not really sure how to handle it yet,” said Chris Malmstrom, Dayton Christian School’s spiritual life director.

Many students who reached out to Malmstrom during the day had similar stories to share about Williamitis, who would dress up as a banana during home basketball games.

“Super funny, unique sense of humor … he will be greatly missed I know by a lot of students and faculty,” Malmstrom said.

Williamitis was killed in a four-vehicle crash around 7:40 a.m. on Ohio 48 in Clearcreek Twp.

Understanding why this happened is difficult to comprehend.

“You don’t have really good words when things like this happen. It’s just really hard,” he said.

Which is why for the crowd tonight, they turned to a familiar source of comfort.

“We’ve just been trying to keep our foundation on scripture on the word of God.”
