BBB warns of Dayton-area puppy sale scam

A puppy sale scam targeting people in the Dayton area has the Better Business Bureau warning consumers.

The Better Business Bureau received more than 80 inquiries from customers about the business calling themselves “Loyal Bull Dog Pup” and upon investigation found their was no record of the company being registered with the Ohio Secretary of State or the Texas Secretary of State, where the business was allegedly located, according to a news release.

The company was offering English Bulldog puppies for sale through the website www.loyalbulldogspup.com, the release said.

“BBB staff researched the website’s origin and learned it’s not actually located in the U.S., but in Panama,” the release said.

Customers told the BBB the company was requesting money via MoneyGram, however, customers reported they sent payment and never received the anticipated puppies.

When a BBB employee contacted the company posing as a customer that wanted to purchase the puppy, they received an email stating they had six puppies for sale at approximately $650 each.

“The e-mail was riddled with poor grammar and typos,” the bureau said.
