Huber Heights, Dayton police collect evidence in homicide

DAYTON — Detectives from Huber Heights and Dayton collected homicide evidence — including a roll of plastic — from an east Dayton home last week during a search, the newspaper has learned.

The agencies executed a search warrant last week at a home on Creighton Ave., in the Linden Heights neighborhood, Dayton Police records show.

Collected from the residence were more than 50 pieces of evidence, including a DNA trace, “homicide” evidence, a syringe, crack pipes, eight cell phones, a safe, computers and a Social Security card.

Huber Heights Police declined to say why they were involved in the Dayton search. Nor would police say whether the search is related to the death of Brian W. Moore, whose body was found Sept. 13 by a pedestrian in a wooded area off Wildcat Road in Huber Heights by a pedestrian on Sept. 13.

“This is an active investigation, and we are not releasing additional information at this time,” Huber Heights Lt. Matt Dulaney said.

Moore, a sexual offender, was found “under some kind of conditions,” wrapped in an unknown substance, said Huber Heights Police Sgt. Charles Taylor when the body was found. A toxicology report will be performed on Moore’s body.

Huber Heights Police have asked for the public’s help in providing any information available about Moore’s death by calling 937-233-2080.
