Dayton man banned from public library for indecency arrested again

DAYTON — A city man banned from all Dayton public libraries for public indecency has now been charged with trespassing at the library.

Matthew Rhinehart was es courted out of the Dayton Metro Library on Wednesday.

City officers were dispatched around 5:05 p.m. to the library located in the 100 block of South Patterson Street for a trespass complaint.

When police arrived, library staff told officers the court had banned Rhinehart from the library because of a previous case, wrote Dayton Police Officer Jordan Alexander in a city police incident report.

“He was told that he was not supposed to be in the library because he had been trespassed for masturbating in a public library,” Alexander wrote. “He state that he didn’t think it was all of the Dayton libraries.”

A library employee told officers Rhinehart, during previous court proceedings, said he understood he was banned from all Dayton public libraries.

“She was shocked to see Rhinehart walk into the library today, and was nervous about his intentions due to small children in the library and past pattern of behavior,” Alexander wrote.

Rhinehart pleaded guilty/no contest to public indecency in November 2016, according to online court records for Dayton Municipal Court. The charges are related to an incident at the Dayton Metro Library Madden Hills Branch on September 29, 2016.

Rhinehart was sentenced to 60 days in jail with 58 days suspended. He was given a credit for two days of jail time he had already served.
