Amber Alert update: Toddler reported safe, father in custody

An Amber Alert has been canceled after a 10-month-old was found safe, but the mother of the baby is dead and the father was taken into custody in Indiana, according to WTOL-Ch. 11 in Northwest Ohio.

The alert was for 10-month-old Winston Ramey, who was reportedly abducted by his father, 27-year-old James Christopher Ramey, after he allegedly shot and killed the baby’s mother, Mandi Mangas.

UPDATE @ 10:45 a.m.

A CBS affiliate in Northwest Ohio reports that the child, Winston Ramey, is safe, his mother is dead and the father, who allegedly abducted the boy, is in custody and the statewide Amber Alert has been canceled.

The suspect, James Christopher Ramey, shot and killed the child’s mother, Mandi Mangas, before taking 10-month-old Winston Ramey, according to a report from WTOL-Ch. 11.

James was found in Fulton County, Ind., according to media reports.

UPDATE @ 8:36 a.m. 

James Christopher Ramey was reportedly involved in a shooting in Delta and fled the scene.

He is believed to be traveling in a 2006 black Chrysler Town and Country with Ohio license number FRX4034.

Authorities are being notified that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

EARLIER REPORT

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 10-month-old boy from northwest Ohio who is believed to have been kidnapped by his father.

The child, Winston Ramey, is described as a white male, one-foot tall, 32 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is believed to have been taken by his father, 27-year-old James Christopher Ramey, from Delta, Ohio around 7 a.m. James is described as a white male, 6-foot tall, 150 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.

Delta is located in Fulton County, about 30 miles west of Toledo.
