Sgt. Mark Bowron

I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio which makes me a true “native Daytonian!”  I graduated from Patterson Co-op High School  and became an Air Force Reservist just out of High School. In 1978 I was sworn in as a police officer for the Dayton Police Department.  After several years as a patrol officer I was assigned to the Investigations Division as a Detective.  In 1984 I became the afternoon traffic reporter on 1290 WHIO in addition to my full time duties as a Detective.  I held many different positions in the Police Department over a 25 year career, including Crime Stoppers, Public Information Officer, Missing Juveniles Investigator, and Supervisor of the Police Communications Bureau.I retired from the Police Department as a Sergeant in 2004 and became full time Traffic Reporter for WHIO Radio.  I also report traffic for NewsCenter 7 Daybreak, K 99.1 FM Breakfast Club, and 95.3 The Eagle.  I do 100 traffic reports every day!I am married to the former Maxine Nugent of Dayton.  We have two children, Amy (Dewey) and John, and a grandson, Braxton. I have two cats, KC and Little Kitty.  My parents, my two sisters and their families all live in the Dayton area.
