Tornado count: 14 tornadoes confirmed in Ohio so far this year

Three tornadoes were confirmed in the Miami Valley from severe storms that developed Sunday. This takes the total number of tornadoes in Ohio up to 14 for 2019.

On average, Ohio gets 19 tornadoes a year, so we have been busy.

The Miami Valley has seen the most tornadoes this year compared to the rest of the state.

More than half of the tornadoes for 2019 developed in the Miami Valley, four in Clark County, one in Darke County, one in Montgomery County and two in Preble County.

Our severe weather season got off to a quick start with the first tornado touching down in Selma in Clark County on Feb. 7. Most of the tornadoes in the Miami Valley have been EF0 with winds between 65 and 85 mph. The first EF1 tornadoes were confirmed in Eaton, West Alexandria and Huber Heights.

Last year, there were 17 tornadoes confirmed across the state.
