Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast: Talking About Climate Change with Dr. Shepherd

Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs and Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini sat down with a prominent figure in the meteorological community, Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd. Dr. Shepherd is a distinguished professor of Geography and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Georgia. Interestingly enough, he was a former professor for our newest meteorologist, Austin Chaney!

Dr. Shepherd is a scientist, former president of the American Meteorological Society, climate and weather expert, TV/Podcast host of Weather Geeks and professor. He became interested in weather as a child after a bee sting. Instead of taking a route to broadcast meteorology, he focused on research and development and academia.

As an expert on climate change, Dr. Shepherd had a candid conversation with McCall and Kirstie about the state of our Earth. He broke down how a warming atmosphere has different impacts all over the world and different environments in the United States.

Dr. Shepherd also talked about the current research projects he is working on including one with NASA that investigates if wet soil can impact hurricane intensity!
