UPDATE: South Smithville Road reopens after crash investigation; at least 2 injuries reported

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 10:15 a.m.:

South Smithville Road has reopened after crash reconstruction officers investigated a two-vehicle crash at the U.S. 35 overpass in Dayton Friday morning.

Two medics were requested to the scene, however the conditions of the victims were not immediately known.

Additional details about the crash and investigation were not released. We’ll update this story as we learn more.

FIRST REPORT

A crash that reportedly injured two people on South Smithville Road has blocked both directions of the road at the U.S. 35 overpass.

The crash was reported near the Smithville Road overpass over U.S. 35 around 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Two medics were requested to the scene however the conditions of those injured was not immediately known.

The crash investigation has blocked both directions of South Smithville Road at the overpass. The westbound U.S. 35 exit ramp to South Smithville and the eastbound U.S. 35 ramp to northbound North Smithville Road are shut down for the investigation. Callers into this newsroom report the eastbound U.S. 35 ramp to southbound South Smithville Road is still open.
