>>Dayton Flyers get new opponent Tuesday after UMass cancellation
Saturday’s matchup at UD Arena against Saint Joseph was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Hawks’ program, a UD athletics spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday.
As of Wednesday morning, it has not been determined if the Flyers will have a replacement opponent to play Saturday.
This would be the third straight game that has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues involving the Flyers’ opponent. Last Friday night’s game, originally scheduled as a home game against Richmond, was reworked so the Flyers would play George Mason at UD Arena, a team they already played at home.
Tuesday’s game against VCU was also a replacement game as Dayton was originally set to play UMass in Amherst, but that too was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns at the UMass campus.
We’ll update this story as new details become available.
