UPDATE: No replacement game this weekend for Dayton Flyers after COVID-19 postponement

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 1:45 p.m. (Feb. 11):

The Dayton Flyers will not play a game this weekend after COVID-19 issues with the Saint Joseph’s program forced a cancellation of the Saturday game.

The Atlantic 10 Conference informed the program Thursday that the Flyers will not have a replacement opponent for the postponed game.

Dayton returns to action Tuesday against Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island at 7 p.m.

FIRST REPORT (Feb. 10):

More COVID-19 issues involving Atlantic 10 teams has forced the conference to postpone another scheduled game for the Dayton Flyers.

Saturday’s matchup at UD Arena against Saint Joseph was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Hawks’ program, a UD athletics spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday.

As of Wednesday morning, it has not been determined if the Flyers will have a replacement opponent to play Saturday.

This would be the third straight game that has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues involving the Flyers’ opponent. Last Friday night’s game, originally scheduled as a home game against Richmond, was reworked so the Flyers would play George Mason at UD Arena, a team they already played at home.

Tuesday’s game against VCU was also a replacement game as Dayton was originally set to play UMass in Amherst, but that too was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns at the UMass campus.

We’ll update this story as new details become available.
