Two Dayton Flyers earn PFL weekly honors

Two Dayton Flyers took home offensive and defensive players of the week honors in the Pioneer Football League for their performances in Dayton’s 63-43 win over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon. Senior quarterback Jack Cook was named offensive player of the week while freshman defensive end Chris Pepe got defensive player of the week honors.

Trailing 23-0, Cook threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Luke Brenner to start a run of 49 unanswered points for UD. Cook accounted for six touchdowns, three passing and three rushing, and accumulated 336 yards of total offense (262 passing, 74 rushing).

Pepe had seven tackles against Presbyterian, including 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and also batted down a pass.

The Flyers’ next game will be Saturday afternoon at Morehead State. Pre-game coverage begins at 1:30 pm, kickoff is 2 pm with Larry Hansgen and Mike Kelly on the home of the Flyers; 1290 and 95-7, WHIO. You can also listen to the game online here at WHIO.com.
