AUBURN, Ala. —
The Dayton Flyers made a run at the No. 8 Auburn Tigers in the second half, cutting a 19-point deficit to six but lost 82-72 on Saturday at Auburn Arena.
The Flyers (5-4) lost their fourth game to a team ranked in the top 50 of the Ken Pomeroy rankings. In each of the games against Virginia, Oklahoma, Mississippi State and Oklahoma, they had the lead or were competitive in the second half.

Dayton made 11 of 23 3-pointers and shot 48.2 percent from the field, but turnovers doomed Dayton in this game. It committed a season-high 23. Jalen Crutcher led the Flyers with seven.
Ryan Mikesell led the Flyers with 15 points. Josh Cunningham scored 14. Bryce Brown scored 34 points for Auburn.
Dayton returns to action on Dec. 16 against Tulsa in Uncasville, Conn.
The Flyers committed 16 turnovers in the first half and faced a 51-32 halftime deficit.
Dayton trailed 12-2 after the first five minutes but cut the deficit to 23-19 at the 7:45 mark on a 3-pointer by Ryan Mikesell, who led the Flyers with 10 points.

Dayton faced a 37-29 deficit with under three minutes to play. Then Auburn dominated the final minutes with a 14-3 run. Brown scored nine of his 22 first-half points in the last 2:29.

Crutcher and Trey Landers each scored six points for Dayton. Jordan Davis had five points. Dayton’s two big men, Cunningham and Obi Toppin, combined for three points. Toppin didn’t attempt a shot in three minutes.
Dayton shot 48 percent from the field and made 6 of 9 3-pointers. Auburn shot 61.5 percent and made 7 of 13 3-pointers. It committed seven turnovers.
