CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto, second baseman Scooter Gennett and third baseman Eugenio Suarez earned spots as reserves on the National League All-Star team, which was announced Sunday night. It’s the ninth straight season the Reds have had at least two all-stars.
The All-Star Game will be played July 17 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

While Gennett and Suarez will be first-time All-Stars, it’s the seventh honor for Votto, 34, and second in a row. He leads the league with a .425 on-base percentage. He’s hitting .292 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs.
Gennett, 28, is tied for the league lead with a .326 batting average and ranks ninth with 58 RBIs. He ranks second at his position with 14 home runs. He’s the first Reds second basemen to make the all-star team since Brandon Phillips in 2013.

Suarez, 26, leads the league with 68 RBIs. He ranks sixth with 19 home runs. He leads third basemen with a .312 average. He’s the first Reds third baseman to make the all-star team since Todd Frazier in 2015.
