Report: Antetokounmpo finds new team two days after being waived

The Los Angeles Lakers claimed former Dayton Flyers forward Kostas Antetokounmpo off free agency waivers Sunday, according to a report by The Athletic, two days after he was waived by the Dallas Mavericks.

Antetokounmpo signed a two-way deal with the Lakers, according to the report. He also had a two-way deal last season with Dallas.

Antetokounmpo appeared in two games last season for the Mavericks, scoring one point. He spent most of his rookie season in the NBA G League with the Texas Legends.

In the NBA Summer League this month, Antetokounmpo appeared in five games for the Mavericks, averaging 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game. He shot 39 percent from the field (11 of 28).

Antetokounmpo spent two years at the University of Dayton and played one season for the Flyers. He redshirted in 2016-17. In the 2017-18 season, he averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 29 games.
