KETTERING — Ohio State recruit Maxwell Moldovan used five birdies and a hole in one Thursday to return to the top of the leaderboard in the 113th Ohio Amateur Championship at Moraine Country Club.
Moldovan, a rising senior at Green High School in Uniontown, shot a 4-under-par 67 in the third round to grab a share of the lead with Luke Campbell heading into Friday’s final round.
Moldovan and Campbell are both at 5-under 208 through 54 holes. Campbell, the second-round leader from Whitehouse, near Toledo, shot a third-round 71.
Moldovan, a two-time Division I state high school champion, opened with a bogey but caught fire midway through the front nine with a three-hole stretch of birdie-ace-birdie on his way to a 3-under 33.
