— Beating Alter and going to the playoffs in the same season is pretty heady stuff out at Fairmont High School. Varsity football coach Dave Miller’s Firebirds pulled off that double last season and Fairmont seems to have the talent to make some noise again in 2018.
“Hopefully what I saw is they are not satisfied with what they did last year,” Miller said during a break this week. “All kids want to win, I think knowing how is another thing.”
Fairmont returns some solid players on that grind-it-out offense. Braden Miller is back for his third season at quarterback, and the coach’s son says this team wants more.
“We all just want to give our best effort all the time,” Miller said. “We do it not for ourselves, we do it for our team.”
