DAYTON — The Dayton Flyers received their first commitment from a member of the 2020 recruiting class on Tuesday night as Lukas Frazier, a 6-foot-4 guard from Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, announced his decision on Twitter.
Frazier announced in April he received a scholarship offer from Dayton and shared a photo of himself with Dayton head coach Anthony Grant and assistant coach Anthony Solomon.
Frazier received an offer from Wright State in June 2018 and also has offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Northern Kentucky, Youngstown State, Ohio, Akron, Bowling Green and others.
Frazier reached the 1,000-point mark in his career as a junior. He was the fifth player in school history to reach the milestone. According to the News-Herald, Frazier was a starter as a freshman and averaged 13.1 points per game. He increased his scoring average to 15.8 points per game as a sophomore and was averaging 19.7 points, 3.4 assists and 2.2 assists late last season when he reached 1,000 points. He earned an All-Ohio honorable mention in Division II.
Frazier ranks as the No. 8 2020 prospect in Ohio, according to OHHoops.org. He’s the No. 1 ranked shooting guard from Ohio in the 2020 class, according to TripleDoubleProspects.com. He’s the No. 11 prospect in Ohio, according to 247Sports.com. He’s No. 7, according to PrepHoops.com.
Dayton has two scholarships open in 2019 after Jordan Davis and Frankie Policelli decided to transfer and will have two more opening in 2020 with Trey Landers and Ryan Mikesell playing their final seasons.
Frazier fills one of those spots. He’s the third recruit from Ohio to commit to the Flyers or transfer to Dayton in Anthony Grant’s third season. Dwayne Cohill, of Holy Name High School in Parma Heights, was the first. He’s entering his sophomore season. Ibi Watson, of Pickerington Central, transferred to Dayton last spring from Michigan and will debut as a redshirt junior in the 2019-20 season.
