Dayton Loses at Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA, PA — In a season of disappointments, the Dayton Flyers went into Philadelphia, PA Wednesday night and lost to a two-win Saint Joseph’s team, 97-84. UD never led in this game. Taylor Funk scored 36 points to lead the Hawks while Ryan Daly added 25. St. Joe’s made 18 three-pointers.

Jalen Crutcher led Dayton with 17 points while R.J. Blakney started the second half and added 15. Five Flyers scored in double figures as they made 61 percent of their shots in the second half.

UD trailed 15-4 to start the game. The Flyers were down, 54-38, at halftime but got within three points, 62-59, with over 13 minutes to play in the game after a three-pointer by Blakney. Taylor Funk and Jordan Hall each buried a trey to build the Saint Joe’s lead to 68-61.

Dayton trailed 76-69 but then Cameron Brown and Jordan Hall each buried a three to increased the advantage to 82-69. The Hawks’ largest lead of the game was 22 points, 92-70 with 4:22 remaining.
