Dayton loses on the road at VCU

RICHMOND ,VA — In a game they never led, the Dayton Flyers lost to the VCU Rams, 66-43, at the Siegel Center in Richmond, VA. UD fell behind 5-4 to start but the Rams went on a 14-0 run and never looked back. Bones Hyland led VCU and all scorers with 28 points. The Flyers shot 31 percent from the floor, including 6-28 in the first half totaling 13 points. The last time Dayton scored 13 points in a single half, 2010 at Temple. UD falls to 8-4 overall, 4-3 in the Atlantic 10.

Jordy Tshimanga and Zimi Nwokeji each scored 10 points to lead the Flyers, Tshimanga also grabbed five rebounds. Jalen Crutcher, Ibi Watson and Mustapha Amzil combined to shoot four for 25 from the field. Luke Frazier played his first game of the season and had two steals in six minutes. Frazier was one of five freshmen who finished the game for Dayton, including R.J. Blakney, Koby Brea, Nwokeji and Moulaye Sissoko. Blakney scored seven points and got three boards.
