The Dayton Flyers didn’t take long to hire a men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach, announcing the return of Casey Cathrall to the position two days after Ed Streit announced he was leaving after one season for a job with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Cathrall worked for the Flyers in Anthony Grant’s first season (2017-18) and left for a job with the Miami Hurricanes last season.

Dayton also announced the following men’s basketball staff news.

Andy Farrell is now the special assistant to the head coach and recruiting coordinator. He worked the last two years as director of scouting and program development.

• Brett Comer, a graduate assistant the last two seasons, is now the director of player development.

• Butler grad Khyle Marshall, who announced in June he was joining the staff, is a new graduate assistant.

“These personnel changes reflect steps forward for Dayton basketball and our coaching staff,” Grant said in a press release. “Andy and Brett have been important to our program from Day One. Kyhle brings a strong basketball experience to his GA position. And we are very fortunate to be able to bring Casey back on board. Ed had a great professional opportunity and we wish him well, but Casey’s return gives us continuity in our strength program.”
