DAYTON — A team of former Dayton Flyers got official confirmation Thursday they have been selected to participate in The Basketball Tournament, a $2 million winner-takes-all event taking place in July and August.
This will be the first team made up of all former Flyers to participate in the tournament. It’s the third year for the event.

The official Twitter account of the tournament announced the news: “They've brought together some of the best players in (Dayton basketball) history. Dozens of fans have endorsed them using the hashtag #TBTRecs. Next up? A trip to Columbus. We have officially ACCEPTED @FlyersTBT to play in #TBT2019.”
The team, nicknamed the Red Scare, was started by former Dayton walk-ons Joey Gruden and Jeremiah Bonsu. Seven players have committed to the roster: Kevin Dillard, Devin Oliver, Vee Sanford, Dyshawn Pierre, Kendall Pollard, Kyle Davis and Josh Cunningham. At least two more additions are expected.
