DAYTON — The Dayton Flyers (29-2 and 18-0) remained at number three in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll released Monday afternoon.
Dayton remained in the top five of the poll for a fourth straight week. This is the 15th consecutive week the Flyers appeared in the poll this season.
Rounding out the top five in the poll were No. 1 Kansas, No. 2 Gonzaga, No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 Baylor.
Baylor, previously ranked fourth, and San Diego State, fifth, both lost over the weekend. San Diego State fell to sixth in the poll.
Last week the Flyers completed an undefeated Atlantic 10 regular season, defeating Rhode Island on the road Tuesday and George Washington at UD Arena Saturday.
The Flyers currently hold the longest active winning streak in the country at 20 straight games. Dayton broke the school record for wins in a season with the victory over GW Saturday. The 1951-52 team previously held the record and finished 28-5.
Also announced Monday, Obi Toppin was awarded A-10 Conference Player of the Week honors. He averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in Dayton's two victories.
This was the fifth time Toppin was tabbed as the player of the week this year and was the eighth time a Flyer won. Jalen Crutcher won twice and Ibi Watson once, in addition to Toppin’s five honors.
