DAYTON — The Dayton Flyers will play Tulsa on Dec. 16 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The matchup was officially announced Wednesday.
The game will be part of the annual Basketball Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase. The event features two other games: Rhode Island vs. West Virginia and Drexel vs. Quinnipiac.
“It’s an opportunity to play a quality opponent in Tulsa at a venue that is becoming known for college basketball,” Dayton coach Anthony Grant said in a press release.
Dayton’s game against Tulsa is one of several non-conference games that have already been announced. Mississippi State released part of its schedule May 1 and announced it will play at Dayton on Nov. 30.
Dayton will also play a road game at Auburn and three games in November in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. The possible opponents are: Virginia, Middle Tennessee State, Butler, Florida, Oklahoma, Stanford and Wisconsin.
Tickets will go on sale for the general public at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 on Ticketmaster. Game times and television details will be released at a later date.
Dayton has played Tulsa twice, losing 63-60 on Nov. 22, 1984 at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati and losing 84-71 in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2003 in Spokane, Wash.
Tulsa plays in the American Athletic Conference and finished 19-12 last season. It ranked 89th in the RPI. Dayton (14-17) ranked 152nd.
