Mike Hartsock takes a closer look at Kenton Ridge football

They are using the “R” word out at Kenton Ridge this summer, but does it mean the Cougars will be rebuilding or reloading in the 2018 season?

“I don’t want to believe that we’re a year away,” head coach Joel Marratta said.  “We’ve got a lot of juniors playing and we have some experience coming back which is good but we’re a little bit humbled still.”

The Cougars were humbled by a 6-4 record last season.  Three of the four losses came to teams that ended up in the playoffs.

Kenton Ridge will ride on the shoulders of Dylan Lemen this season.  The junior quarterback went for over 1,000 yards passing and rushing a year ago.

“I’m a lot more comfortable as a quarterback this year,” Lemen said.  “I’ve grown a lot more and i’m trusting my line a lot more now.”

Kenton Ridge doesn’t have to wait long to get a shot at one of the teams that beat them last season.  The Cougars open up at home against Mechanicsburg on Friday, August 24th.
