An Oregon District restaurant is rolling out a sweet deal for Thanksgiving weekend.
Lily’s Bistro, 329 E. Fifth St. in Dayton’s Oregon District, is offering beignets for a $1 each during brunch Friday through Sunday, Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
The Friday brunch, to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is a special post-Thanksgiving Day add-on.
Brunch on Saturday and Sunday will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Depending on size, an order of two to three Cafe du Monde-style beignets is normally $5.50 at Lily’s, spokesperson Brian Johnson told this news organization.
Lily’s brunch menu currently includes a waffle of the day, an omelet of the day, pork belly Benedict, breakfast burritos, rabbit or mushroom biscuits and gravy, a BLT and E and other sandwiches, shrimp and grits, smoked trout toast, deviled eggs, salad and the Hangover Cure, a bowl filled with home fries, scrambled eggs, roasted diced onions and pepper sofrito, Ohio cheddar cheese, and a local mushroom gravy served with toast.
Several meals can be prepared vegan and vegetarian.
Before moving to Dayton, Lily’s co-owner Emily Mendenhall worked in restaurants in Chicago and New Orleans, where beignets are served fresh and hot for breakfast at Cafe du Monde and several other places.
The fried pastry topped with powdered sugar was declared Louisiana’s official state donut in 1986.
