Restaurant rolls out new ‘mind blowing’ menu with made-to-order bread

A newly-remodeled Dayton restaurant has just “remodeled” its menu. 

Dewberry 1850 Restaurant and Lounge inside the Dayton Marriott at the University of Dayton’s new menu features innovative but approachable cuisine.

“We are just pushing the envelope a little bit more,  trying to get people to try something different,” Devin Duncan, the hotel’s director of food and beverage, said of the food served at 1414 South Patterson Blvd. in Dayton.

There are only three holdovers from Dewberry’s last lunch and dinner menus: the Brown Street Club, the burger and the P.L.T.E — McDowell farm pork belly with mayo, romaine,  tomato jam and a TS farm sunny-side-up egg on a brioche bun, served open-faced.

The restaurant is offering a made-to-order, fresh bread service for $2. 

Duncan said he was particularly excited about the bialys created under executive chef Tim Skiber.

The bagel-like treats are made with Parmesan dough, caramelized onion, Kalamata olive, caper-stewed tomato  and olive oil. 

“When I tasted that, it kind of blew my mind,” he said. 

Below is a look at the rest of the dinner. Note: most small plates, shareables and sandwiches are also on the restaurant’s lunch menu. 


Tabbouleh $7 — mushroom, lemon tabbouleh, soy, roasted vegetable broth, toasted garbanzo | Dijon glaze

Mac-n-Cheese $12 — pancetta, smoked Gouda, roasted garlic, toast points 

Strawberry Bruschetta $11—  baguette toast, strawberry jam, pickled grape, whipped local chevre, macerated strawberry, 80 Acres Farm petite greens 

Bowl of shrimp $12 — half pound, garlic butter, herbs, toasted baguette


Flatbread $14 — shredded oregano, chicken, Alfredo sauce, roasted red onion | torn basil | roasted peppers, herb infused oil
Bialys $12 —  baked Parmesan dough, caramelized onion,  Kalamata olive, caper-stewed tomato, olive oil bath

Tacos $12 — blackened white fish, soft shell, pickled rouge onion, jalapeno pineapple salsa, farmers cheese

Pretzel two ways $8 — salted, honey Dijon mustard  or cinnamon and sugar, cream cheese glaze

Wings $12— NC BBQ, Buffalo garlic Parmesan, traditional Buffalo 

Egg Rolls $8 — roasted collard green and corn egg rolls, balsamic and maple glaze

Cheese Curds $10 — beer battered cheese curds, roasted poblano sour cream 

SALADS (chicken, add $5; salmon, add $9)

Field Greens $11  — shaved carrot, cucumber, grape tomato, pretzel crouton 

Wedge $12 —  house made blue cheese dressing, baby iceberg, egg ribbons,  Brown sugar bacon chutney, herb roasted tomatoes 

Chilled $11 — grilled asparagus and fennel over mache, Tempeh,  avocado lime dressing

Caesar $11  — chopped romaine and kale, crouton, Parmesan,  pretzel crouton, house made Caesar dressing 


Stuffed grilled cheese $12 — Challah bread, cotwold cheese, broccoli, red onion, mushroom

Cuban $14  — coffee rubbed McDowell farm pulled pork, shaved ham,Grey Poupon| Swiss| soft roll, Pop’s pepper patch pickle

Italian $14 — pepperoni, salami, capicola ham, fresh mozzarella, chopped iceberg | basil | red onion, oregano vinaigrette

P.L.T.E $12 — McDowell farm pork belly, mayo, romaine | tomato jam, TS farm sunny-side-up egg, soft brioche served open faced

Crispy chicken $12 — crispy chicken breast, NC BBQ mayo, chopped brussels sprout slaw, naan bread

Brown Street Club $12 —  Legrand poblano aioli, carved turkey, smoked bacon, shaved romaine, tomato, raisin bread

M Burger $15 — Angus beef, bacon, cheddar, LTO | toasted brioche

Vegan bourguignon $18 — roasted vegetable, portabella, roasted potato, beet broth 

Chilean sea bass $27 — Buerre noir, sautéed kale, golden raisin, crispy garlic

Short Rib $26 — rooted grounds coffee-rubbed braised beef short rib, Parmesan and sweet pea orzo, poached egg, fried onion

Airline chicken $16 — hand-breaded fried chicken breast, warm potato salad, sage pancetta gravy

Grilled 7 oz. filet $27 — asparagus risotto cake, tomato red onion relish, roasted shallot brown butter

Salmon $16 — seven spiced salmon, pineapple relish | potato latke

Pappardelle $18 — Rosemary and garlic lamb meatballs, house made pappardelle pasta, sour cream demi

Hours: 6:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The lounge is open until midnight every night. Late-night food hours are 9-11 p.m. nightly.
