Woman with COVID-19 still experiencing symptoms after 50+ days

MIAMI COUNTY — A nurse from Miami County has been quarantined for more than 50 days after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and testing positive for the virus.

“It’s been really difficult,” said Abigail Lee from Tipp City.

She started experiencing COVID-19 symptoms in March and got tested March 23rd. She has been quarantined at home with her boyfriend ever since.

“The worst part was probably days seven to 10. I got incredibly tired. My fevers were sky high,” Lee said. “Really short of breath, which was really scary because I’m pretty young and pretty healthy, so to have those kind of symptoms and be a nurse and know what it means was really terrifying.”

Lee’s symptoms were so bad in early April, she went to the emergency room.

“The cough eventually went away. My appetite came back. My sense of smell and taste had completely gone away at one point, so I finally got those back,” Lee said.

She is still tired and has a fever.

“I’ve done everything I can possibly think of. I’ve been taking multiple kinds of vitamins. I’ve had multiple chest x-rays, lab work, I did a round of antibiotics,” Lee said.

Moving forward, Lee plans to have a consultation with an infectious disease team.
