Woman critical after being hit by semitrailer

A woman in her mid-20s was walking east on Kruckeberg Road, when she ran into the side of a moving semitrailer late Tuesday night at the intersection of Route 127, deputies said.

The crash happened around 11:55 p.m., when the woman, identified as Alisha D. Keith, 26, of Gettysburg, was reportedly walking to a relative’s house after leaving Tail Gators Sports Bar & Grill, which is located at 1240 Russ Rd.

According to deputies, the woman was walking east on Kruckeberg, about a half-mile east of the bar, when she attempted to run across the Route 127 interchange. Following the collision CareFlight was dispatched Darke County and took Keith to Miami Valley Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition as of 5 a.m.

Deputies said it was suspected Keith was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Route 127 was closed while deputies investigated the crash and was reopened to traffic around 2:15 a.m.
