VIDEO: 2 escape car fire in Harrison Twp.

Two people escaped injury when their car burst into flames late Sunday morning in Harrison Twp.

The driver pulled into the Green Olive Restaurant parkint lot, 3630 N. Dixie Drive, after noticing smoke coming from the engine compartment, according to Harrison Twp. Batttalion Chief Terry Overman.

The driver and passenger exited the vehicle and flames soon shot out of the engine area.

A restaurant employee said the female driver came into the restaurant asking for help.

Overman said they tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher from the restaurant but were unsuccessful.

Firefighters responded after getting the call at 11:45 a.m. and put the fire out.

Overman said the cause is undetermined, but it appeared to be from a mechanical failure.
