Woman burned after suspect allegedly threw liquid in her face in New York subway station

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A woman’s face was badly burned after another woman allegedly threw liquid in her face inside a New York subway station.

The incident happened Friday morning just before 1 a.m. between Winthrop Street and Nostrand Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, officials said, according to WABC.

The woman, 21, was reportedly standing on a subway platform when the suspect approached her. According to WABC, the two women began arguing.

The woman was getting off the 2 train to go to work. The suspect was a stranger, according to WABC.

The woman was left with serious burns to the left side of her face, according to WNBC.

Police said that the victim had a mystery substance thrown at her face before the suspect fled the subway station. According to WNBC, the attack seemed to be unprovoked.

Officers patrolled the subway station and put up some wanted posters of the attacker, but so far, no one has been arrested, according to WABC.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released, including what the mystery liquid was.
