A Utah man may reconsider his footwear the next time he hikes.
A 24-year-old man from Provo fell 30 feet at Utah’s Bridal Veil Falls on Thursday while wearing flip-flops as he hiked near the popular tourist attraction, KSTU-TV reported.
The man was about 20 minutes into his hike when he fell, according to the television station.
Firefighters, along with Utah County Search and Rescue located the man and treated him for his injuries, KSL-TV reported.
According to a Facebook post by the North Fork Fire Department, the unidentified man was in stable condition with injuries that were not revealed.
“Had he slid a few more feet he would have fallen over 100 feet more straight down,” Sgt. Spencer Cannon, a spokesperson for the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, said in a tweet. “We encourage people to be better prepared. Please consider your skill level and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. A few more feet and this 24-year-old Provo man would likely have died.”
